10 Fun exercises for weight loss

3 mins to read
There are so many exercises you can do to aid your weight loss journey.
However, we often get stressed and can’t find the time or motivation to get up and start working out.
If you are someone who is looking for fun ways to get motivated to exercise, we have some ideas for you:

1) Get a workout buddy
No one wants to be that friend that blows off another friend at the gym or makes them wait for you at the park for a morning jog, right? This is why it is such a great idea to exercise with a friend.
People who are new to working out can benefit from having a workout buddy as it helps keep them accountable to attend all their workout appointments.
It can also help remove any gym anxiety one may have from being new to working out.
Having a friend makes the time you spend working out pass by a lot faster and you can also incorporate healthy meal plans that you and your friend can enjoy, along with some weight loss supplements in Singapore to burn fat throughout your entire body.

2) Actively play with your pet or your child
Playing with your pet or your child can help burn calories.
Depending on the activity you are doing, you can turn it into a cardio workout or a full-body strength training workout to promote weight loss.
For example, if you have a dog, you can bring it for a walk and this can be considered your cardio workout for the day.
Activities for children can be more fun as children love it when you pick them up in your arms. You can add some squats and some lunges whilst you carry your kid in your arms and this can be a full-body workout.
If your child is older, you can play backyard games like tag, hopscotch and catch as they can actually burn off a fair share of calories. Another great way to bond with your child and lose weight at the same time is to play sports with them. Basketball, soccer, skateboarding and even mini-golf are great ways to burn calories to help with your weight loss.

3) Walking or biking whenever you can
Rather than driving to work or running errands, you can choose to walk or ride a bike as it is another way to include cardio exercises into your daily routine.
Walking and riding a bike helps reduce your carbon footprint which is great for the environment whilst helping you burn calories throughout the day.

4) Dancing
Instead of meeting up for drinks, why not meet your friends for a fun exercise routine by hitting a dance club?
You can choose to learn salsa, jazz, hip hop and even a kpop dance routine to help burn calories. Dancing is a great aerobic exercise as regular dancing can help improve cardiovascular health and core muscles.
It is also an underrated workout that targets almost all your muscle groups in one session.

5) Hiking
Hiking is a great way to get fit as it is a great lower body workout and improves overall cardiovascular health.
Depending on the intensity level of the hiking route and duration of the hike, you could burn a few hundred calories all the way to a thousand calories burned in a session.
Being outside also provides sunlight exposure, which triggers vitamin D production that is good for your physical fitness and has mental health benefits.

6) Yoga practice
Yoga has been shown to improve flexibility, tone the muscles, and reduce stress.
It can be done in a traditional gym, yoga studio or even from the comforts of your own home as all you need to start is a big enough space to stretch and a yoga mat.
A successful yoga session doesn’t have to be difficult as it offers a variety of workout styles to suit the individual’s fitness level. It can be finished in 15–30 minutes without much hassle.
This is one of the best exercises to build core strength, and muscle mass and puts minimal stress on the body. It also encourages using breathing techniques that are great for overall peace of mind.

7) Pilates classes
Pilates is a low-impact cardiovascular workout that focuses on using body weight to build muscle mass and lose weight.
It is one of the best exercises for weight loss especially when you are trying to get rid of your belly fat.
There are some similarities to yoga but the moves follow a more moderate pace compared to yoga which focuses on a much slower pace.
This workout is a great exercise to incorporate into your fitness routine as it is a great total body workout that is low impact.

8) Swimming
Another effective physical activity is swimming, which is a low-impact workout and a great fat burner.
Swimming is also considered a full-body physical activity, and this means you will target pretty much all the muscle groups in your body.
In a 30-minute session, you easily burn away 100 calories, and even more if you make the activity more vigorous. Taking your movement to the pool is also great for the joints, as it’s very low impact.

9) Rock climbing or bouldering
This is a great workout that targets the upper body and if done correctly, can be used as an aerobic exercise as well as a full body weight exercise.
Using the right technique to climb requires you to use your legs, back, and arms to manoeuvre your way along the foot and hand holds.
Before heading outside and climbing your local cliffside, it’s recommended to first find a climbing gym where you can learn how to climb properly with the safety of a padded floor and rope assistance.

10) Gardening
Gardening involves using a lot of bodyweight movements such as squatting, shovelling, stooping, lunging, and picking things up.
It is a great way to spend time burning calories whilst being a fun activity you can do every evening.
